Rubix retains EcoVadis silver medal, recognising the sustainability of our business and management system

For all of us in the Rubix group, including Brammer Buck & Hickman, corporate social responsibility (CSR) is an integral part of what we do; which is why we are proud to announce that Rubix has retained the EcoVadis silver medal. That puts us in the top 25% in our industry!

EcoVadis is the world’s largest and most trusted provider of business sustainability ratings, with more than 75,000 rated companies. Its aim is to enable all businesses to reduce risk, drive performance, and improve environmental and social outcomes. The EcoVadis sustainability assessment methodology, built on international sustainability standards, is an evaluation of how well a company has integrated the principles of sustainability/CSR into their business and management system. The Sustainability Scorecard illustrates performance across 21 indicators in four themes:

• Environment

• Ethics

• Labour & human rights

• Sustainable procurement

Rubix has participated in EcoVadis’ sustainability assessment programme for a number of years and we are pleased to not only retain our silver medal this year, but also see our scores improve significantly in the first three of these themes. Everyone within the Rubix group of companies, including Brammer Buck & Hickman, have put a lot of work into achieving this, which culminated in our first environmental, social and governance (ESG) impact report which represents a major step forward for us in this area.

But we’re far from complacent. Both the ESG report and EcoVadis sustainability assessment has helped us to clearly identify a number of tangible actions we need to take, with a focus on procurement. Our procurement procedures are already recognised for their quality and ethics on one level, with our CIPS Certification in Standard of Excellence in Procurement Policies and Procedures, but now we need to focus on making them more sustainable.

We will also be looking to increase the number of our sites with ISO 14001 (environmental) certification and ISO 45001 (Health & Safety) certification, and work on improving some of our reporting procedures.

We have that valued gold medal in sight and believe these actions will nudge us into that category next year!
