Food banks and local school supported by Rubix this Christmas via a team of amazing volunteers!
Christmas is a time for giving, yet there are many people that don’t even have enough money to buy food to feed themselves and their family, let alone to be in a position to give to others. It is estimated that 14 million people in the UK are locked in poverty. This Christmas, Rubix donated over 2 tonnes of food to Foodbanks around the UK to help some of those people in need. In Ireland, Rubix donated €500.00 worth of vouchers to Benevin College, Dublin - a local school in a very disadvantaged area – which will be used primarily to buy food and clothing. And Rubix in Iceland sponsored Team Rynkeby, a European charity cycling team, that raises money to support children with critical diseases.
In the UK, our amazing volunteers liaised with their local foodbanks to identify which food items were most needed and then went on a shopping spree. They then organised for the donations to be delivered or collected by the Food bank.
Many of our branches added extra donations to the pot, such as our Aberdeen branch that donated to the Aberdeen South Foodbank. Julie Gardiner, Sales Office Manager for Brammer Buck & Hickman’s Aberdeen branch, comments: “We decided as a Branch to donate to Aberdeen South Foodbank, who were very grateful for this donation, and even came to collect it all from us. Aberdeen Branch staff started doing regular foodbank donations a few years back, as our BBM at the time had volunteered at a foodbank, which brought home to us all just how much these donations are relied on. We all very much appreciated the donation made by individuals within the company and want to send our thanks.”
We couldn’t be prouder of our volunteers for the work they have done and for all the extra donations they have made. We couldn’t have done it without you, so a big thank you to each and every one of you!
It’s not too late if you also want to give. If you would like to donate to your local Foodbank click here. If you donate before 31st January your donation will be doubled, at no extra cost to you. Your donation really does make a difference.
