Rubix Role Model employee recognition award scheme off to a flying start

Role models play an important part in our lives from childhood onward, leading by example and influencing our actions to be our very best. Role models come in all shapes and sizes, be they famous celebrities or people closer to home such as family, teachers and even work colleagues. That’s why we are delighted to announce our Rubix Role Model scheme, designed to recognise and reward Rubix employees who have carried out a specific act, inside or outside of the workplace, that demonstrates how their personal values match our Rubix values:

• Act with integrity

• Own and take action

• Stay curious

• Never settle

• Embrace perspectives

Rubix employees have been given the opportunity to nominate colleagues as a Rubix Role Model, identifying which Rubix value the individual has displayed and how. Each month, our Employee Forum selects three finalists which all of our employees across the business get to vote on.

The new scheme has been enthusiastically received and we’ve already had four winners so far:

Garry McLennan, a Driver at the Aberdeen branch. On a delivery round, Garry came across an elderly person who had driven into a ditch. He helped her out of her car, called her daughter and waited with her until a vehicle arrived to tow her car, giving her a cup of tea from his flask and his biscuits. This kind act made Garry our first winner.

Toni Lunt, Sales Office Manager at the Plymouth branch, who has been recognised by her colleagues for demonstrating the Rubix value 'own and take action'. Commenting on Toni’s award, Brett Callaghan, Managing Director for the South said: "She is a credit to our business and being able to reward and recognise her this way is fantastic. Toni has gone above and beyond ever since I've known her and 'Role Model' doesn't come close to describing what an incredible asset she is to Plymouth and all of us too!"

Kath Aspinall, InSite™ Manager at InBev Preston, also a Rubix Role Model winner for demonstrating our value 'own and take action'. Christine Haggart, Managing Director for the North said: “From Kath’s first day in the business, she has always set very high standards for herself, her team and the customers, which is why she has not only delivered outstanding results for our business, but has also delivered outstanding results for our customer. Kath consistently goes that extra mile for the customer, yet Kath sees this as just ‘doing the job’.”

Gordon Flowers, Process & Support Manager, is our latest winner, who has been recognised by his colleagues for demonstrating our value 'Never Settle'. Vince McGurk, our Chief Operating Officer said: "Gordon is one of Rubix’ unsung heroes who walks the group values every day." Whilst the acknowledgement from their colleagues is seen as the most important factor, along with a trophy and a framed certificate, we are also keen to reward these excellent individuals! Consequently, every winner receives a £200 voucher, a two hour lie in the week following the award being made (who doesn’t appreciate a lie in?!), plus goodies for the team in which the Rubix Role Model works. And let’s not forget the two runners up, who receive a £50 voucher each and a certificate to display.
