Brammer Buck & Hickman’s Inscan™ provides a low-cost inventory solution which increases stock visibility and avoids duplication

 

Making sure our customers can perform efficiently has always been a priority to us, so when a brewery needed help in managing its maintenance consumables, we stepped in to provide a simple, low-cost yet effective inventory management solution via our Inscan™ service.  

The brewery, which is home to many of Britain’s iconic ale brands, has some of the most extensive packaging operations in Britain. Consumables at the brewery were being stored in unorganised pull-out trays, which were damaged and worn and provided little visibility of the contents. Furthermore, a record of stock was not being maintained.

Brammer Buck & Hickman provided the brewery with a simple, highly effective solution to improving the management of its maintenance consumables. Firstly, we replaced the worn trays with tilt bins and clear summary maps, enabling engineers to locate parts quickly and easily. Then we implemented our Inscan™ solution to provide the customer with greater control and visibility over maintenance consumables. This has also eliminated the problem of duplicates, meaning valuable cost savings.

Inscan™ batch scanning software is an easy-to-implement barcode-driven stock check and replenishment process. Inventory can be tracked by user, location or cost centres and counts can be updated or verified on the go by a scanner or smartphone. Comprehensive reporting and data can be viewed in customisable formats and maintenance requests and work orders can be scheduled from the same system too.

The new system now in place at the brewery, which also covers fastener stores in the engineers workshop, as well as lubrication and janitorial products in the oil stores, has been developed with plenty of space left for future additions.  

We are delighted to have received some fantastic feedback from the engineers at the brewery. Furthermore, following the success of this project, we were excited to be approached by a multinational brewery and pub chain to discuss the possibility of implementing a similar solution in the future.
