Product details : SMC CD85N8-80-A AIR CYLINDER

The SMC C85 pneumatic cylinder takes the ISO 6432 standard series and offers it in double-acting, single-rod version, available from Ø 8 to Ø 25 mm. Elastic cushioning is fitted as standard, with pneumatic cushioning offered as an option depending on the bore.

Characteristics:
The C85 cylinder operates on compressed air and provides a double-acting linear movement, with the rod extending and retracting under pressure in both directions. Operation is carried out without lubrication, which limits routine maintenance operations.

Elastic cushioning is fitted as standard across all bores, while pneumatic cushioning can be selected as an option (C suffix) from Ø 10 mm onwards to absorb the piston’s kinetic energy more gradually at the end of stroke.

Several mounting fixings are offered as options, including the angle bracket, flange, clevis pin and articulation, as well as rod ends such as the clevis or the spherical rod end. A magnetic position sensor can also be fitted on CD85 models (with integrated magnet) for end-of-stroke detection.

- Standard mass (integrated articulation version, pneumatic damper): 44 g (Ø 10 mm), 84 g (Ø 12 mm), 95 g (Ø 16 mm), 176 g (Ø 20 mm), 241 g (Ø 25 mm).

Standards:
ISO 6432 sets out the interchangeability dimensions for single-rod pneumatic cylinders, guaranteeing dimensional compatibility between manufacturers. This range complies with it across the entire bore range.

Strengths

- Cushioning limits impacts and absorbs kinetic energy more gradually for high-duty-cycle applications.
- Lubrication-free operation reduces the frequency of maintenance operations.
- The bore range from 8 mm to 25 mm makes it easier to select a cylinder suited to the load to be moved.
- The speed range from 50 mm/s to 1,500 mm/s makes it possible to adjust the actuation rate to suit the application.
- Interchangeable mounting fixings simplify mechanical integration on different supports.

Applications

This cylinder is used in industrial automation systems requiring pneumatic linear actuation, particularly on conveyor lines, handling stations and assembly machines. The absence of lubrication and the temperature range from -20 °C to 80 °C make it suitable for continuous production environments, including the food industry, pharmaceuticals or packaging, where equipment cleanliness remains a constraint.
