Product details : SMC MIS25-50D ESCAPEMENT

The SMC MIW/MIS pneumatic separator distributes and releases parts one by one at the outlet of vibratory conveyors, magazines or hoppers. It is available in a two-finger version (MIW) or a one-finger version (MIS), in five bore sizes from 8 mm to 32 mm.

Features:
The range comprises two configurations. The two-finger version separates and conveys each part thanks to a simple distributor: while one finger extends to the end of stroke, air causes the second finger to retract, according to an insertion, separation and then unlocking cycle controlled by a cam mechanism. The one-finger version, for its part, offers adjustable operating speed and mounting position according to the dimensions of the part and its handling conditions.

A compensation mechanism separates the fingers from the piston: it protects the piston and seals against off-centre loads and allows a finger to be replaced without dismantling the entire cylinder. A wiper (suffix S), offered as an option, limits the ingress of dust and protects the internal components.

Mounting can be carried out in two directions, either via through holes on the front face or via tapped holes in the body, and three finger versions are available: standard model, tapping on the upper and lower faces, or tapping on all five faces including the end face. The supply ports are distributed over several faces of the body, with an adjustable position by moving the closing plug; connection is thus possible in three directions for the two-finger version and in two directions for the one-finger version. A stroke adjuster, also optional (suffix A), makes it possible to finely adjust the retracted position of each piston rod. A position sensor can also be mounted directly in a dedicated groove in the body.

Specifications:
- Available bores: ø 8, ø 12, ø 20, ø 25 and ø 32 mm.

- Stroke adjuster adjustment range (option, rear stroke adjustment only): from 4 mm (ø8) to 20 mm (ø32).
- Main materials: body and fingers in hard anodised aluminium alloy, cam and roller support in stainless steel, rollers in heat-treated high carbon-chrome steel, stops in urethane, seals in NBR.
- Pneumatic connection: M3 threaded port (ø8), M5 threaded port (ø12 to ø25) or Rc 1/8 port (ø32), with closing plug on unused ports.
- Position sensor (optional): static sensor with 3-wire or 2-wire output, direct mounting in a groove in the body.

Strengths

- The compensation mechanism protects the piston and seals against off-centre loads and allows a finger to be replaced without complete dismantling.
- Cam self-locking prevents any accidental release of a part between two separation cycles.
- The optional wiper limits the ingress of dust and extends the service life of the internal components.
- The three finger versions and the two mounting directions make integration on existing installations easier.
- The optional stroke adjuster enables precise adjustment of the retracted position of each rod, without major intervention.
- Lubrication-free operation reduces periodic maintenance operations.

Applications

This MIW/MIS range is used on automated part-feeding lines, where it ensures the single pick-off of a continuous stream of parts before transfer to a downstream station. It is typically installed at the outlet of vibratory conveyors, storage magazines or hoppers, in assembly, packaging or sorting workshops for small mechanical parts.

The two-finger version is suitable for flows requiring continuous conveying of each part, while the one-finger version adapts to rates and mounting positions that vary according to the size of the part being handled. The five available bores make it possible to size the cylinder according to the mass of the parts to be separated and the permissible lateral load in operation.
