NBR is the most widely used O-ring material because of its good mechanical properties and resistance to mineral oil lubricating oils and fats. The NBR standard Densomatic O-ring material has an average ACN content that covers a wide range of applications. This material has good mechanical technology values, eg high wear resistance, low gas, and good resistance to mineral oil, hydraulic oils H, H-L, H-LP, highly flammable liquids HFA, HFB, HFC, aliphatic hydrocarbons, silicone oils and fats, water to about 80°C. NBR is generally not resistant to aromatic and chlorinated hydrocarbons, high aromatics content, polar solvents, glycol-based brake fluids and the highly flammable liquids HFD. NBR is less resistant to the ozone, weather conditions and ageing. In almost all applications this however has no adverse effects.
