The driving tangs of inserts must be removed to eliminate interference with the end of the assembled bolt. Break off tools are available for use with sizes up to 1/2-12mm nominal diameter. Their operation is automatic, having a spring loaded, easily triggered punch which strikes a sharp uniform blow.
