Configured as a floating bearing, this FAG cylindrical roller bearing permits axial displacement of the shaft without transmitting axial forces to the structure. It is particularly suitable for applications with temperature fluctuations or tight fits.

Explanation:
• NU: Two ribs on the outer ring, none on the inner ring; free axial displacement in both directions without taking up axial loads
• E: Increased radial load capacity through optimized internal geometry
• XL: FAG X-Life design with improved contact surfaces, higher dynamic load capacity and extended service life
• M1: Two-piece brass cage, hot-riveted and roller-guided

Features:
The NU design allows the inner ring to move freely in the axial direction in both directions. During removal the inner ring remains on the shaft, while the outer ring, rolling elements and cage sit as a unit in the housing. This means that no extensive disassembly or pull-off procedures are required for routine maintenance.
The E design in combination with X-Life technology provides more uniform contact conditions and an optimized stress distribution. The dynamic load rating can be increased by up to 18% while the nominal life under comparable operating conditions increases by more than 70%. The two-piece brass cage M1 ensures effective heat dissipation and offers high corrosion resistance for demanding industrial environments. The C3 radial clearance reduces the risk of excessive internal preload in the event of temperature rise or heavy press fits.

Maintenance:
The bearing is supplied open and without an integrated seal. Lubrication must therefore be applied during assembly and replenished regularly according to operating conditions. The choice of grease or oil depends on speed, operating temperature and load. For oil lubrication, regular checking of the oil level is required to avoid insufficient lubrication.
As this is an open rolling bearing, it must be protected from ingress of solid particles, water or chemical media by suitable external sealing systems. Careful cleaning of adjacent components prior to assembly further minimizes the risk of contamination.
During operation, temperature, vibration behavior and noise should be monitored. Unusual temperature rises or increased vibrations often indicate insufficient lubrication, contamination or the onset of damage to the raceways. Regular condition monitoring using thermography or vibration analysis enables predictive maintenance and reduces unplanned downtime.

Applications:
This FAG cylindrical roller bearing is suitable for floating bearing positions in rotating machines with thermally induced length changes, for example in electric motors of medium and high power, gearboxes and industrial gear units. For applications with high radial loads, such as in crushing, extrusion or rolling mills, the E design offers an optimal combination of high load capacity and compact design. The brass cage M1 is particularly suitable for pumps and compressors with elevated operating temperatures or aggressive lubricants. In conveyor technology as well as in heavy lifting and transport equipment, for example conveyor belt drums, winches or hoists, the separable design simplifies on-site maintenance and reduces downtime.
