tesa® 4831 is a silicone-free masking tape made of a PET/non-woven backing and an acrylic adhesive. It is especially designed for highly demanding applications such as prebond masking, composite manufacturing and metal sandwich construction.
Thanks to its robust PET/non-woven backing and acrylic adhesive, it can be exposed to high pressure and temperatures of up to 180 °C. It is silicone-free, which makes a contamination of the surfaces with silicone adhesive impossible. Subsequent process steps such as window gluing or coating can therefore be carried out with maximum reliability avoiding time consuming cleaning.
Strengths
- Excellent adhesion also to rough surfaces.
- Residue free removal even after oven drying cycles up to temperatures of 180°C.
- No discoloring or ghosting on clear coats.
- Strong and tear resistant backing.
Applications
- Prebond masking for subsequent bonding applications, e.g. gluing of windows.
- Fixation/masking of parts during composite or metal sandwich construction.
- Also ideal for 2-tone painting providing precise paint edges.
- Powder coating
