Cooper bearings are similar to self-lubricating bearings, but you don't need to dismantle your machine to install or maintain them. Instead, Cooper components are divided into two halves, which are then formed around the shaft and built up one piece at a time.
Cooper bearings are divided into three sections: bearings, cartridges and bases. The bearing is the rotating mechanical part, consisting of a roller cage with inner and outer races. The cartridge is the protective housing around the bearing, containing grease and seals. It also facilitates mounting of the bearing on the main housing. The pedestal is the hollow block that is bolted to your machine. This holds the cartridge and bearing in the correct position for the shaft to rotate.
