Product details : LOCTITE 638 HIGH STRENGTH FAST CURE 50ML 1803365
LOCTITE® 638 retaining compound is a high-strength product designed for bonding cylindrical fitting parts and for filling narrow gaps between 0.15 mm and 0.25 mm. The fast curing properties and high strength on all types of metals make this adhesive an ideal solution for durable retention.
Features:
LOCTITE® 638 provides high retention for cylindrical assemblies through anaerobic curing technology, which prevents loosening and leakage caused by vibration. The product delivers high strength on active metals as well as on passive substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces. It also tolerates slight contamination from industrial oils, including cutting fluids and lubricants, and performs across a wide operating temperature range from -55 °C to 180 °C. The high viscosity and short fixture time of just 4 minutes make it ideal for securing shafts, pins, gears, pulleys and similar cylindrical parts.
Specifications:
• Technology: acrylates, anaerobic cure
• Chemical type: urethane methacrylate
• Colour: green
• Physical form: liquid
• Fluorescence: UV detectable
• Viscosity: 2,500 mPa·s
• Operating temperature: -55 °C to 180 °C
• Gap fill: 0.15 mm to 0.25 mm
• Shear strength on steel: 31 N/mm²
• Fixture time: 4 minutes
Standards:
LOCTITE® 638 complies with:
• KIWA GASTEC QA AR 214: certifies suitability for gaseous hydrogen systems up to 100% hydrogen.
• DVGW (EN 751-1): NG-5146AR0619: confirms product performance for sealing applications.
• WRAS (BS 6920): 0511518: verifies suitability for use in potable water systems.
• NSF P1 Registration No. 123010: validates use in and around non-food-contact areas and food processing environments.
• ISO 10123: specifies the test method for determining the compressive shear strength of structural adhesives.
• ISO 10964: establishes test methods for evaluating the properties of anaerobic retaining compounds.
