When a fitted assembly must remain securely in place despite shock loads, LOCTITE® 648 retaining compound provides high-strength retention for cylindrical parts. Curing begins once the product is confined between close-fitting metal surfaces in the absence of air.

Features:
LOCTITE® 648 is a single-component anaerobic retaining compound designed for cylindrical assemblies such as shaft-to-bearing, shaft-to-gear, pin-to-bore and similar applications. The acrylic urethane methacrylate formulation cures in the absence of air between metal surfaces, including passive substrates such as stainless steel and plated surfaces. The low viscosity promotes capillary action into close-fitting gaps and helps prevent loosening and leakage caused by shock loads and vibration. The product tolerates slight contamination from industrial oils, including cutting fluids, lubricants, anti-corrosion oils and protection fluids, without the use of a primer or cleaner. UV fluorescence enables visual inspection during quality control procedures.
