Product details : 3M 47082 XTRACT CUBITRON II FILM DISC 775L 152MM 320+
The 3M Xtract™ Cubitron™ II 775L Film Disc combines 3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology with a durable polyester film backing to deliver fast cutting across a wide range of substrates. Available in different grains, the range covers the full spectrum of operations, from initial coarse sanding to fine finishing.
Features:
3M Precision-Shaped Grain technology is at the core of these discs. The triangular shape cuts through the substrate rather than scraping it, enabling cutting speeds up to twice as fast and a service life up to six times longer than conventional abrasives, without compromising the quality of the finished surface.
The exclusive multi-hole pattern of the 3M Xtract™ system optimises the removal of dust generated during sanding. This design outperforms standard 5- or 6-hole patterns and minimises clogging of the disc, thereby extending its service life. Replacement requires no specific alignment of the holes with the backing plate, which reduces downtime and simplifies fitting. Some models are also available without holes, depending on requirements.
The extruded polyester film backing enhances tear resistance and ensures consistent edge retention, whether used dry or wet. The Hookit™ hook-and-loop fastening system allows discs to be fitted and removed quickly; they remain reusable for the entire life of the abrasive, thereby reducing the overall cost of use. Finally, the synthetic resin bond and the open structure of the coating, combined with electrostatically oriented abrasive mineral, contribute to a consistent finish across the entire treated surface.

Strengths
• The triangular geometry of the calibrated ceramic grain reduces the force required for cutting and limits heat build-up in the substrate, thereby preserving the integrity of the materials being processed without burning the surface.
• The Xtract™ multi-hole pattern keeps the abrasive surface clean for longer, which reduces the frequency of disc replacement and lowers overall abrasive consumption.
• The polyester film backing ensures consistent edge retention when sanding edges, corners and contour areas, where paper backings are at risk of premature tearing.
• The wide grit size range (80+ to 1,000+) covers every stage of a sanding operation within one product family, simplifying stock management.

Applications
This range is designed for a wide variety of sanding operations in diverse industrial environments. In metalworking, these film discs are used on stainless steel or aluminium surfaces to smooth out scratches, finish surfaces after welding, or prepare them for painting. In the automotive bodywork, transport and specialist vehicle sectors, they are used for paint stripping, sanding primer and preparing surfaces for the final finish.
The composites and aerospace markets benefit from the range’s ability to work on gelcoat, resin, carbon fibre composites and synthetic materials such as Corian®. In cabinetmaking, joinery and woodworking, the fine grits (320+ to 1,000+) enable refined surface finishes to be achieved on wood, lacquers and varnishes.
Other sectors use these Xtract™ Cubitron™ II 775L discs in specific contexts: the marine industry for the maintenance and repair of hulls, the wind turbine industry for the processing of composite parts, and MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) for ad hoc work on equipment in service.
Their compatibility with robotics and dual-action orbital sanders also makes them a suitable choice for automated production lines.
Additional applications include marine repair and maintenance, composite processing in the wind energy sector, and MRO (maintenance, repair and overhaul) operations. Compatibility with robotic sanding systems and dual-action orbital sanders also makes the range well suited to automated production environments.
