Pencils are rolls of resin-bonded abrasive cloth that reveal a new cutting surface when the top layer is worn. They come in 2 different shapes, and in a wide range of sizes and grits. Pencils are suitable for a wide range of applications, including deburring, polishing, smoothing edges and removing machining marks. They are also ideal for working around corners. They are available in aluminium oxide, resin-bonded, and silicon carbide to order. Many applications use both pencils and spirapointes. They are more flexible than bonded grinding wheels, and leave fewer erosion marks than spirabands.
