Use the ultra-fine Scotch-Brite™ 7448+ hand pad instead of fine steel wool for preparing metal surfaces and paintwork. Our gray hand pads work cleaner and last longer than steel wool. Unlike steel wool, they do not tear or rust when used and do not leave behind fine metal splinters. The ultra-fine Scotch-Brite hand pads have a closely graded silicon carbide abrasive. The very sharp-edged synthetic mineral is usually used for applications with low contact pressure, such as paint preparation, due to its high removal rate. The closely graded particles ensure consistent, homogeneous sanding throughout the life of the hand pad. The mineral breaks down faster than aluminum oxide to provide an excellent surface finish. The hand pads are characterized by their ease of use. They allow you to get into tight corners and work on complex surfaces without changing the geometry of the workpiece. You can use them to clean, finish and polish surfaces without adjusting, turning over or replacing the hand pad during use. Our versatile hand pads should not be missing from any toolbox. You can use them by hand or with a hand sanding block, or you can use them with an orbital sander to process larger surfaces faster. Scotch-Brite abrasives are unique products for surface treatment. The abrasives are bonded into nonwoven fibers. The combination of abrasives and fibers results in an abrasive and polishing system that achieves consistent results throughout the entire lifespan of the hand pad. The open nonwoven structure allows for cool sanding and is dust-repellent, so the nylon fibers retain their high removal rate because they do not clog.
Strengths
