The compact spring rewind reel operates with a normal retraction system but should the operator lose his grip on the hose, then the system senses the over-speed retraction and slows the hose to a safe speed by means of a centrifugal brake. This protects the operator, work colleagues, vehicles, surrounding equipment and of course the reel itself.
