These spanners are extremely sturdy, slim and incredibly light tools which lend themselves well to working in confined spaces and in heavy industry alike. To reduce the likelyhood of breakage, more material is added where the greatest loads are applied, and material is removed from places that are not under as much stress. The plating process prevents 'chrome flake', a common problem found. Firstly the spanners are nickel plated and then chrome plated. This gives the tool it's distinctive 'matte' look, which is intentional and it also makes the spanner much easier to grip in oily environments.
